During my fall semester of junior year, I took a class titled "TV Series Production" with Professor Chrissy Guest! The course is designed to give students better insight/experience with the "development of ideas, storytelling, and greater sophistication in all areas of television series production." Some of these areas include lighting, set design, and details on the various roles related to tv sets (director, assistant producer, camera operators, etc).
The final assignment is based on Rod Sterling’s “The Twilight Zone” series. Each student was assigned to pitch a concept that follows the style of the show. If yours was picked, you’d be paired with 3 other students to create a 5-7 minute film based on your pitch.
4 pitches were chosen, one of them being mine. I was both Director and Director of Photography, so my roles included working to bring the visual to life. I also worked on the script with another team member, helped with set design, and worked on other paperwork that helped showcase the structure of the film (mood board, storyboard, shot sheet).
My pitch was titled "Déjà-rêvé" which followed Audrey, a young woman on a quest for love. But her past continues to haunt, forever impacting her future.
